It's the same as writing a good story, or acting: it's about making the Active Choice. By that I mean when faced with the choice between isolation and community, activity and stagnation, moving forward or navel-gazing, doing the active thing. Spending time with others as opposed to sitting in front of the Tube. Going to a class instead of taking a nap. Heading out to a show instead of wanking.
Because active choices lead to opportunity. The other, while tempting, especially when one is tired, broke, or just lazy, leads nowhere.
