I'm pretty much back to normal after my March of Nightmares...Spring seems to be finally here, while I haven't found a new place yet, the warm temperatures make this place liveable until I can find new digs. I've decided that even if it takes spending more money or actually having to -gasp-take the bus to the beach, I have to live in a place with a bit of natural light, an oven to cook with, and a bathroom that doesn't evoke the 'Bring out the Gimp' scene in Pulp Fiction.
spent last thursday and friday with my Dad and Carole, probably gained at least 10 of my illness-related weightloss lbs. back cuz of all the meals dad bought me...went skiing in Whistler on Friday but visibility was really poor and I thought I could get above the clouds by heading up to the peak of Blackcomb Glacier...but ended up blindly struggling to get back down through a snow and windstorm, which would have been tough even if I had skiied more than once in the past year...so after heading to the top in order to spend the day hitting bottom(ouch!) things are looking up for me, I'm spending the week shooting an independent PAYING film (!!) and recently heard a great piece of news regarding my gum surgery: The majority of the costs, around 80% are going to be paid for by the Actors' Fund of Canada. This is not my union, I don't have any union benefits yet because I am not a full member, but applied to the actors fund for help with the cost of the dental surgery...and help they did. I am so grateful to the fund which is basically a registered charity that assists entertainment industry professionals who have urgent financial costs, and when the day comes that I am in a position to be able to make a donation to them, you bet I will. You can find information on them at actorsfund.ca
and I encourage anyone to make a donation to them if you can or attend one of their regular fundraising events, they really saved my ass(and my teeth!) someday they may do the same for you.
